Planning Your Rogue Valley Wine Country Getaway
IN THE KNOW
|

Whether you’re a local looking to plan a “tourist in your own town” weekend or you live far away and want to experience Rogue Valley Wine Country’s world class wine, culinary and outdoor experiences, here are some of our favorite things to do, see and savor.

  • Take an exciting jet boat ride or book an adventure-filled rafting trip on the Rogue River. Afterward, visit Del Rio Vineyards, Kriselle Cellars, or Cliff Creek Cellars and wind down with a beautiful glass of wine and small bites. At Del Rio, clip a bouquet of zinnias to brighten up your hotel room or kitchen, and give one to someone who needs a smile.
  • Drive northwest to GrantsPass and visit the restaurants and shops that line this historic downtown – from antique and clothing shops to distilleries and fine dining – the opportunities are endless and entertaining.
  • Spend the morning hiking RoxyAnn Peak in Medford and stop by a nearby winery to reward yourself with a glass of wine and lunch.
    • RoxyAnn Winery offers BBQ by Rogue’ish Smokers on Thursday through Sunday from 12 to 4 pm – that is perfectly paired with their wines.
    • Rocky Knoll at Dunbar Farms offers a full menu of chef-made fresh pizza, sandwiches and salads that pair with their wines.
    • Padigan (formerly 2Hawk Vineyard and Winery) offers a selection of wines and perfectly paired small bites to share.

  • Visit historic Jacksonville and enjoy a narrated trolley ride to learn about the rich gold mining and wine history that cultivated Oregon’s first vineyard and winery, planted and owned by pioneer, Peter Britt. For those who prefer to walk, the Jacksonville Visitors Center offers a historic walking tour map to guide you. During the summer months, enjoy a Britt Festival performance in the beautiful outdoor venue and don’t forget to enjoy a selection of Rogue Valley wines by Belle Fiore Winery, Peter William Vineyards, Quady North Winery and Weisinger Family Winery.

  • If art is your passion, visit Ashland for its multitude of art galleries as well as live performances at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. The quaint downtown also offers a myriad of shopping and dining options. Check out Larks Home Kitchen Cuisine at the Ashland Springs Hotel (where you can also find a beautifully appointed room to stay the night), Alchemy Restaurant & Bar located inside the Winchester Inn (and book a stay for an easy transition to your room) or Osteria la Briccola for homemade Italian cuisine. All of these great options source their ingredients from local farmers and ranchers and offer a great selection of local wines alongside international selections.
